If you're looking for a loving, faithful, loyal canine companion, and don't mind that he's approx. 12 years old and blind, then Red is your man! Hard to say his exact age, but he's been in foster care for a little over 2 years and was thought to be about 8-10 years old at the time of his rescue. His eyesight at the time of rescue was beginning to diminish, but is now completely gone. (His vet says he sees only shadows, which helps him to get around with the consistent routine at his foster home).

Red was found in the wee hours of the morning with a collar (no tags) that was so extremely tight it was almost embedded into his neck. His neck had nasty, infected collar burns that took time, medication and lots of TLC to heal. It has since healed nicely. Red had obviously been someone's dog because of the collar and the fact that he had been neutered prior to being rescued. Although we assume Red once had a home, it was apparent he had not been well-cared for in quite some time. His coat was terrible, looking and smelling like he had not had a bath in forever, and his neck was infected from a collar that had most likely been on him for years without ever cleaning or interchanging.

Despite his prior neglect and mistreatment, Red remains loving, trusting and loyal. Red loves to go on long leash walks, most of all on autumn mornings (He loves taking in the cool morning air). He will need a quiet home with a constant routine and lots of love and patience. This stunning gentleman is a very special dog and deserves a very special home where he can live his remaining years like the prince he is!
