Below are some of HOPE's
rescued dogs who are waiting for their "forever
homes" and families who will give them the love they
so deserve. All of our dogs have been given
their original vaccinations, are on heartworm
preventive, and are neutered or spayed, unless
otherwise noted. HOPE requires that all
adoptive homes have fenced-in back yards. A $75 adoption fee is
required for each animal, and pre-adoption home
checks, adoption applications, and adoption contracts
are necessary for each dog. If you fall in
love with one of our dogs but are unable to take him
or her into your home, please consider sponsorship. Please click on

Name:
BusterAge: 2 years Gender/Breed: male Jack Russell terrier Bio: "I was the neighborhood stray for several months before a wonderful family took me in to foster. They love me a lot, but they know I need to find my forever home. My humans say I'm a sweet guy who is very smart and playful, and I'm great with children. I also get along well with other dogs of all sizes. I currently weigh about 11 pounds. Because I can be an escape artist, I'll need a secure fenced yard, and it would be best if I wasn't left outside without supervision. Being a terrier, I'll need a home with someone who can keep up with me and give me the exercise, attention, and mental stimulation I need. Do you fit the bill? Please call 985-859-5246." Name: Buster BrownAge: 1 year Gender/Breed: male Boxer/American Staffordshire Terrier/French Bulldog mix (per DNA test) Bio: "After my former owners cruelly abandoned me, a kind lady took me in and nursed me back to health. I have since blossomed into a playful, happy boy. I love to run and play, so a fenced yard is a must for my new home. My foster mom has been working with me on basic obedience and manners. She says I'm crate-trained and am working on house-training. I'd be a perfect buddy to lounge with on the couch while watching football. I'll need a home with someone who is experienced with dogs and can be the pack leader. I'd also do best without other pets. Can you picture me in a Saints jersey? Please email niquebreaux at gmail dot com." Name: CharlieAge: 3 years Gender/Breed: male Lhasa Apso mix Bio: "I was found in the middle of a rural road, where I surely would have met some horrific fate had I not been rescued. My caregivers are now teaching me basic commands and leash manners. They say I'm a smart boy and a quick learner! Enrolling me in classes (visit www.canineetiquette.org) to continue my training would be a good idea. I'm a friendly, affectionate boy once I get to know someone. I also get along well with other animals. However, I will need a home with an owner who can be my leader, and I'd do best in a home without children. My humans think I'd make a good pet for the right person. Are you that person? Please call 985-859-5246." Name:
DaisyAge: 10 months (as of Oct. 14) Gender/Breed: female German shepherd mix Bio: "Before HOPE rescued me, I lived in a kennel because my former owner was pregnant and couldn't handle me. My foster mom says I'm very active and playful. I love to run, so a large, fenced yard would be ideal for me. I'd also make a great walking or jogging companion! I am obedience-trained and have great manners. Due to my size and boisterous nature, I'd do best in a home with older children (ages 9 and up). I love other dogs, but I like to chase cats and other small non-canines, so I should go to a home with other dogs only. My foster mom says I'm such a lovable, sweet girl. I am also crate-trained. Do we match? Please call 985-791-6517 or email nickibre at gmail dot com." Name:
DuchessAge: 1 year Gender/Breed: female American Staffordshire Video: Duchess getting lots of love Bio: "I wandered into a neighborhood where residents came together to protect and comfort me. It was immediately obvious that I came from an abusive, cruel home which left me with visible scars. Half of my back left foot is missing, and I have soft tissue bruising in my left shoulder. When the veterinarian x-rayed me, he found that I was riddled with pellets in my face, neck, torso, and front leg. All of my wounds have healed, and my inhumane treatment has not deterred me one bit. I am sweet, friendly, and love all the attention I get. My new, wonderful humans say I will be ready for adoption in August. Are you interested in meeting me? Please email faye_117 at yahoo dot com, or call 985-438-0667." If you have information which could lead to an arrest for malicious animal cruelty, please contact HOPE or local law enforcement. Age: 10 months (as of Jan. 6) Gender/Breed: male Shih Tzu mix Bio: "My rescuers found me a home with what they thought would be my forever family. However, my adopters gave me up because I had an accident in the house. What they didn't understand is that I'm still a puppy and will need patience and proper training. I'm a friendly, playful little guy who gets along well with other dogs, especially those my size. I also ride well in the car. I love to chew on my toys, and I'll put my front paws together and 'wave' when I want something. My humans get a kick out of that! Want a new family member? Please call 985-859-5246." Age: 1 year Gender/Breed: male Lab/German Shepherd mix Bio: "An animal lover managed to gain my trust and get me into the HOPE program after I was found as a stray. My humans say I'm such a good dog! I'm well-loved here, but I would really like to have a family of my own. I'm good with older children, and I'm a gentleman on a leash. I also ride well in the car. Though I'll need a home without cats, I love to play with other dogs of all sizes. My best match, however, would be a dog who is my size with my level of energy. Want to schedule a play date? Please call 985-859-5246." Age: 5 months (as of Jan. 1) Gender/Breed: male Lab mix Bio: "My rescuer saved me from a group of teenagers, who were throwing me in a ditch. Can you believe that? Thankfully, I'm now safe in HOPE's care, awaiting my forever home. I'm a sweet, loving boy who likes spending time with my humans. I also enjoy playing with other dogs and my toys and am even good with cats and children. Will you ensure that I'll live a happy life and never be mistreated again? Please call 985-859-5246." Name:
GemmaAge: 1 year Gender/Breed: female Lab mix Bio: "After being unwanted, I'm now in HOPE's loving care. My humans say I'm a total sweetheart who loves affection. I'm great with other animals as well as children. At 32 pounds, I'm medium-sized and will stay that way. I'd make a wonderful family pet, but I am very active and will need a home where I can get the exercise and attention I need. Because I previously lived indoors, house- and crate-training should be a breeze. Want to meet me? Please call 985-859-5246." Name:
GidgetAge: 3 years Gender/Breed: female Shih Tzu and Yorkie mix Bio: "Can you believe I was once homeless? Neither can I! Thankfully, I'm now safe in a loving foster home. My foster mom says I'm a sweet girl who gets along well with other dogs, especially those my size. However, I will stand up for myself if they get too 'forward.' I currently weigh about 9 pounds, and I'm crate-trained. I'm also good with children. Want to know more? Please email countryinn70301 at yahoo dot com." Age: 1 to 2 years Gender/Breed: male beagle mix Bio: "I showed up near a cane field -- no one knows if I was abandoned or just a stray -- and it took a few weeks for my rescuers to gain my trust. Eventually, I realized that they just wanted to help me, and now I'm safe in HOPE's care. I was a very skinny boy at the time of my rescue, but I'm now in tip-top condition and ready for my forever home. I'm a little cautious when meeting new people, but once I get to know you, I'll be your best friend! My caregivers say I'm such a sweet, mellow guy, though I do have a playful side. I love to run in the yard with my canine friends. Although I get along well with dogs of all sizes, I'd probably do best in a home without cats or other small non-canines. I love to snuggle and have my belly rubbed. I like to be as close to my humans as possible, and I'll climb into their laps so they can hold me. Can we meet over a Milkbone? Please call 985-859-5246." Age: 11 months (as of Oct. 25) Gender/Breed: female Pit Bio: "A group of college students decided to buy me from a breeder, but they weren't prepared for the responsibility of having a pet. One of the students brought me to his parents' house, where I'm currently living. Although my mom and dad love me very much, they have other dogs and can't handle another. I'm the sweetest girl, and I love to snuggle and give kisses. I'm completely house-trained and am doing well with crate-training. I love to run and play fetch, so I'll need a large, fenced yard. I'd also like to go on daily walks. Although I love people, I would probably do best as an only pet. Can you make sure all my needs are met? Please call 985-413-1880." Age: 1 year Gender/Breed: female Lab mix January 7 Name:
LadyAge: 3 years Gender/Breed: female border collie mix Bio: "I was found as a stray and never claimed, so I was placed in the HOPE program. My humans say I'm an active girl who will need lots of attention and exercise in my new home. I'm medium-sized, weighing in at about 40 pounds. I get along well with other dogs and with women, but I can be nervous around men. I also would do best in a home without children. Are you the special person I'm waiting for? Please call 985-859-5246."
Name: LolaAge: 1 year Gender/Breed: female Boxer mix Bio: "I'm a sweet girl who needs a loving forever family to take me home. I was adopted when I was only a puppy but am being returned to the HOPE program through no fault of my own. My foster mom says I'm completely house-trained and know some basic commands after having attended obedience training. I do well with other dogs and am very smart, sweet, and submissive. ParkerAge: 9 months (as of Dec. 14) Gender/Breed: male terrier and beagle mix Bio: "As hard as it is to believe, I was found near death as a stray. Thanks to the efforts of a wonderful lady who never gave up on me, I'm now in a loving foster home, being cared for the way I deserve. As you can see, I'm super cute, and I also have a great personality! I'm very friendly and absolutely love people. I get along well with other dogs and cats, and I'm wonderful with children. Still a puppy, I'm an active boy who will need lots of attention and exercise in my new home. I just love to run and play! I also enjoy chewing on my squeaky toys. My foster mom says I'm crate-trained and ready for my forever home. Want to schedule a play date? Please email countryinn70301 at yahoo dot com." Name: PedroAge: 2 to 3 years Gender/Breed: male corgi and Australian shepherd mix Video: Pedro at play Bio: "I was spared a potentially terrible fate at the pound when a kind lady stepped in to save me. She says I'm a mellow, loving boy who gets along well with other dogs and cats. Like so many dogs, I tested heartworm positive and will have to undergo treatment prior to being adopted. Want to make me your newest addition? Please call 985-859-4875."
Name: RockyAge: 4 years Gender/Breed: male Dachshund Best Friend: Sadie Bio: "What a unique little guy I am--black and tan face with a white, spotted body. I'm a spunky boy with a great personality. I came to HOPE with Sadie when we lost our home after our humans divorced. I adore walks and would do great in a home with another small dog. They say I also enjoy older children and will shower them with kisses. Looking for a cute new best friend? Please call 985-859-5246." Name: SadieAge: 4 years Gender/Breed: female Chihuahua/Dachshund mix Best Friend: Rocky Bio: "Rocky and I lost our home when our humans divorced, and now we're both anxious to find our forever homes. I'm an extremely affectionate girl who would just love to stay in your arms all day long. I would make an amazing companion for an older person or a quiet family with older children. I am currently being treated for heartworms, but I'll be ready for adoption by early March 2012. Want to take me home forever? Please call 985-859-5246." Name:
StarAge: 1 year Gender/Breed: female Lab mix Bio: "I got a second chance at life when I was found on the side of a busy highway. I had a broken leg and was malnourished, but, thankfully, an animal lover stopped to help me. Now that I've recovered, I'm in a foster home, waiting to find a permanent family. My foster mom says I'm a very smart girl who sits on command. I can also identify different toys, and I know when it's supper time! I love to be with my humans, so I'm looking for a home where I can get lots of attention and not be left alone all day. I'd be a good match for someone with an active lifestyle. I also get along well with other dogs, so I wouldn't mind having a canine companion in my new home. I currently weigh 43 pounds. Think I'm 'the one'? Please call 985-859-5246." Age: 10 months (as of Dec. 4) Gender/Breed: male terrier mix January 31
Age: 1 year Gender/Breed: male Beagle mix Bio: "My sister and I were found on a local historic site near a busy highway, where we could have been hit by a car if it weren't for our rescuer. My sister was quickly adopted, but I'm still waiting for a home. I'm a little shy in new situations, but I'm really a sweet boy once I get to know someone. I just need a little guidance to become more confident and sure of myself. I'm on the 'pudgy' side, but I like to go for walks, so regular exercise would benefit me. I get along well with other dogs of all sizes, and I'd make a wonderful companion. Can we chat over a Milkbone? Please call 985-859-5246." HOPE for Animals, Inc. |
